Murska Sobota with its surroundings
The Perkmurje region with the centre of Murska Sobota is located in the corner between Austria and Hungary. The region can also be called the Slovene gate into the Pannonian Plain, and for that reason it is rich with endless cornfields, long wayside villages and storks which return to the Mura river every year.
Through the centuries the corn culture has developed a variety of dishes with bread and flat cake, and the tradition of pig breeding has preserved the production of pork and sausage and the first-class Prekmurje ham. Another distinctive activity is also pottery. Some of the potter’s workshops are still in operation today, and it is possible to visit them. Then you can complete your trip by relaxing in the Banovci, Moravske Toplice or Lendava spa.
